Is your council going to use the Act? – this map will tell you: http://www.localworks.org/node/53
Cornwall isn’t yet but perhaps they are waiting until the new Unitary Authority is in place.
Still a few letters to the Council to find out what is being done to implement the Sustainable Communities Act in the Duchy might not go a miss.
Does Truro have a sense of community. It was once a market town with a distinct identity. It has become the retail and commercial centre of Cornwall and, as such, is loosing its identity. Yet another small retailers closes today, unable to compete with the chain stores. Is there something we can do to redress the balance and reclaim Truro for the residents. We need to do it urgently anyway if we’re going to survive peak oil.

The need for a Cornish community media
Here is an article I wrote that looks at the Daily Mail / Northcliffe Group strangle hold on the Cornish press and also lists some of our own home grown community media projects that desrve our support: http://thecornishdemocrat.blogspot.com/2009/09/piran-fiascoe-boycott-daily-mail-groups.html
There is a crying need for our own independent media sources in Kernow.
