A one-day event organised by Cornwall Waste Action and Rezolve Kernow.
A £300 prize will be awarded at an innovative event for individuals and community groups wanting to implement practical sustainable actions within their local communities.
The one day event entitled “Sustainable Action in your Community” will provide practical advice on how to start up, promote and run community based sustainability projects that will make a real difference to Cornwall’s challenging social and environmental concerns.
Sustainable Action in your Community will be more than a talking shop as delegates will be encouraged to take away practical actions for use in their own communities. Expert speakers will give presentations and run workshops on subjects ranging from social enterprises and furniture reuse to buy-local schemes and community composting.
The £300 cash prize will be awarded to help one lucky group take their ideas forward. In addition to the main prize delegates of the event will be invited to enter competitions to win specialised services donated from a number of local organisations. The services including marketing support, fundraising advice, design and management assistance have been provided in order to help community groups or individuals further their ideas and activities.
This event is in recognition of all the great ideas and passion that exists in our local communities. We very much hope that the event will enable local communities to take their ideas forward and make a real change.
Sustainable Action in Your Community will take place on Thursday 10th April at the Shire House Public Rooms in Bodmin. The event, which includes a locally sourced lunch, is charged at £10 per person. Cornwall Waste Action and Rezolve Kernow are keen to promote sustainable transport and will therefore refund the delegate fee for all community delegates who use public transport, walk, cycle or car share when travelling to the event.
Only registered delegates will be admitted to the event and as places are limited they will be allocated on a first come basis. To receive a registration form please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01736 334684.
